my top ten most anticipated films of 2015

I think it has been a decent 2014 for film, however, I truly believe that 2015 can be even better and lead us to a great future for film. This is my specific list of the top ten films I am looking forward to seeing the most next year.

10 - the martian
This film is being directed by Ridley Scott the director of gladiator and from what I have heard about it So far. It stars Matt Damon and he is stuck on mars and that is literally all I know about it. But from what I understand this is going to be a claustrophobic film and Damon is a fantastic actor who can definitely pull off this performance.

9 - Jurassic world
Now i am not the biggest Jurassic park fan in the world but I am looking forward to this one. Set twenty two years after the original the park has opened and with profits declining a new super breed is created which goes wrong. Now the premise sounds really cool and after guardians of the galaxy I can't wait to see Chris Pratt in another big role

8 - Chappie
Once again I do not know allot about this film but I have seen both of Neil blomkhamps films district 9 and Elysium and I love both of them so my expectation is high for this film. The story sees a robot become a part of a family that creates dysfunctionality. This film has some big performers in it such as Hugh jackman and Sigourney weaver so I really hope this film delivers on my expectations.

7 - mission impossible 5
Now I like the first mission impossible and loved the 3rd and 4th films so even though the 2nd sucks I am really looking forward to this film. All I know about this film is that the cast of the fourth film are back and it's a mission impossible film. Because of the last two films quality I have high hopes for this film and I really hope this franchise continues on delivering.

6 - terminator genisys
Me and the terminator franchise have a bit of a love hate relationship. I love both the original terminator and terminator 2 but I don't like terminator 3 or salvation. So this film is really important to me and if this film is bad my faith in this franchise will be gone. But after seeing the trailer for this film I really believe that this film is going to be great. The story takes a new twist on the original films in a new updated version that looks like it Is gonna bring out the best in terminator.

5 - ted 2
I have only recently seen the first ted film and I loved it so I am really looking forward to seeing the sequel. The majority of the big cast are returning and all I hope for is the same amount of jokes and heart that the first film had and I will be a happy man

4 - ant man
Now I must admit this character is not one I really care about that much, but everything that the marvel cinematic universe has produced so far has been good so I expect big hugs for this film. The films sees a thief Scott and teaming up with a scientist hank Pym to commit a heist that can save the world. Now the casting of Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas is a good start and from what I have seen from the concept art it is reminding me of the original iron man and if this film is anything like that then I will be very happy.

3 - spectre
I'm a big fan of the Daniel Craig 007 films because of their grit and realism and I am really looking forward to this film. It sees bond dealing with a rival organization called spectre. The cast from skyfall are all returning and also the new additions of Dave bautista and Christopher waltz are great. I really am looking forward to this to this film and I certainly hope it lives up to my lofty expectations.

2 - avengers age of ultron
Now any normal year this would be my most anticipated film of the year but this is a unique year. The avengers is one of my favourite films of all time and this is one of the most anticipated sequels of all time. The story sees Tony stark accidentally create a sentient machine called Luton that vows to cleanse the entire world of humanity. Now all the fantastic avengers cast members are returning and James spader's casting as ultron was a great choice. After seeing the trailer I believe that this film has the perfect tone and can be even better then the first avengers film.

1 - star wars episode 7 the force awakens
As I said usually the avengers would be number 1 but I have waited for a new star wars film for ten years and the original trilogy is my favourite films of all time. This film is set 30 years after episode 6 and sees the majority of the original cast and a new cast in a new story. After seeing the 1 minute trailer I am so looking forward to seeing this film as I see the tone from the originals updated the right way and I just have the feeling that this film is going to be something special.

Other people may have some other films that they are looking forward too but these are the ten films that I am looking forward to the most.

Chelsea mid season review 2014-2015

Now it is time for chelsea's mid season review and I will admit that I am a Chelsea fan so this may be a little bias.
How their recruitment went - they filled all the gaps that was necessary and probably did the best transfer business in the summer. The deal to bring cesc fabregas to the club has proven to be a masterstroke by the club as he tops the assists chart and has been one of the best players of the season. Also Chelsea needed firepower in the summer so they signed the best striker in Europe in Diego Costa. He has scored the majority of Chelsea goals even against fitness concerns he has been a great signing. Even though they haven't had allot of game time loic Remy, Didier drogba and filipe Luis have done okay when given the opportunity.

How results have gone - almost flawless, Chelsea have easily been the most dominant team in the premier league and apart from a defeat to Newcastle they have been the most consistent team and are the top of the table. They are also in the semi finals of the capitol one cup and in the last 16 of the champions league.

How the manager has done - mourinho has been excellent with his transfer business to tactical selection he has done everything right. His mind games have started and he is usually victorious when he is top at Christmas.

Star player so far - there is many options for this but I have gone with the January signing nemanja matic as the star player. He shuts down the opposition and keeps the team ticking and allows the rest of the more skillful players to strut their stuff.

How they can improve - to be honest there isn't really allot perhaps they need to be a bit more clinical in front of goal and also maybe a centre back for cover could be an idea but it's not that important.

Burnley mid season review 2014-2015

Next team up for a mid season review is newly promoted Burnley.
How their recruitment went - too be honest burnleys recruitment was bad in the summer. There just wasn't enough premier league experience brought into the squad in the summer. Additions like Marvin sordell, Nathaniel chalobah and Stephen ward haven't improved the squad enough and they lack the premier league experience necessary to survive.

How they've performed - they've done okay, many expected just like me that Burnley would really struggle this season. But they have been competitive in nearly every game and even got a good result recently over man city. But they still are near the bottom of the league at Christmas.

How the manager is doing - Sean douche did a fantastic performance last season getting Burnley into the premier league. So far he has done a really good job dealing with the pressure of the premier league even though he needs to do some deals in the window

Star player so far - Danny ings, there was allot of talk before the start of the season whether he could make the step up and even though he started slow he has quite a few goals to his name and is doing well leading the line with Ashley Barnes.

What they need to improve - they need to try to spread the goals around the team instead of just relying on ings and Barnes and, they also need to be more solid defensively. They really just need some premier league experience in January round the team that might be able to help them survive.

Arrow season 1 review (2012)

I have recently just rewatched the whole of arrow season 1 again so I think it is a good idea that I review it.
This series documents the story of Oliver queen a young billionaire who survived 5 years on a desolate island and has returned to rid his city of evil under a new identity called the hood.

Now in the comics the character of green arrow is a cocky billionaire with allot of jokes but I am really happy that they changed that and made him a more damaged darker character. Stephen amell plays the part fantastically and really gets the great lance between the Oliver queen character and the hood character, it reminds me of Christian bales performance in the dark knight trilogy.

The supporting cast is also superb in this season with all the main characters having story arcs that are emotionally investing and worth the pay off. Katie Cassidy plays laurel lance and her performance is great with her performance is really empowering and her story works for this season. David Ramsey plays Oliver's partner John diggle and their chemistry together is great with there relationship being a big part of the season. John barrowman plays Malcolm merlyn and his performance becomes more important as the season progresses. The characters of moira queen, thea queen, Tommy Merlin, felicity smoke and detective lance are important with their relationships with Oliver and the hood being key to the different stories. But the show stealer is Manu Bennett as slade Wilson and his character single handedly made the flashback island scenes interesting.

The story is fantastic with Oliver coming back from the island and taking out the evil of the city while their is flashbacks to what really occurred on the island. Now the first few episodes are quite episodic but it starts to unravel a big mystery and the different stories becomes really interesting. For the first half of the season i found the island scenes to be quite boring but as I said once slade appears it becomes fantastic too as you see it coincide with the main plot really well.

The script is alright but I do think sometimes it can be a bit rigid and a bit cliche with some of the dialogue and in fact I believe it is the only criticism I have of arrow season 1.

The style is great with the dark gritty tone being especially what the show needed to build these comic book characters in a more realistic tone.

Overall this is a fantastic first series that really set up to the epic season two and so far an epic season 3.

Taken 2 movie review (2012)

Now I have decided to start doing film reviews on this blog as well as my IMDb page and I have decided with taken 3 coming up I decided to watch taken 2 for the first time and this is my review.
This film sees Bryan mills return as the parents of his daughters kidnappers in the first film kidnap both him and his ex wife.

Now Liam neeson returns in the role as Bryan mills and even though this performance is not as good as the original taken he tries his best with what he is given to make himself a badass. In the limited action scenes that he participates in he tries his best.

The supporting cast is not really the best at all, I do think famke Janssen has a decent performance in her role as her character actually becomes relevant in this film and she does a decent job. However, I said this in the first film that I did not really like Maggie Grace as the daughter and you can imagine my reaction when she was given a larger role in this film and I still don't like her and think her performance is weak. Now unlike the first film there is a clear villain in the film but he is just an idiot who allows neeson to totally destroy his plan easily..

The story was very simple in the first film but was very effective in my opinion. However, this film decided to get rid of the simplicity and make a convoluted film that limited the strengths of a film like taken and showed all the weaknesses.

The script in the first film and this film sees pretty realistic and how normal people would react to the crazy circumstances. This film has some of that but there is allot of rigid dialogue in the film due to the circumstances of the story.

The style is a mixed bag with some of the driving scenes and the action being really cool. But there is way too much downtime and bad unrealistic decisions taken for the film and also there is allot of shaky cam towards the end of the film.

Now before taken 3 I will probably review the original taken film but this film is just clearly average and not near the standard of the original. However, I am still looking forward to taken 3 because of the quality of the first film.

Aston villa mid season review 2014-2015

After my arsenal report it is now the turn of Aston Villa
How their recruitment went - villa weren't overly busy in the summer transfer window but they brought a few players in. Tom cleverly arrived on loan on deadline day and after a hot start he has quieted down and been a bit disappointing since. After a good world cup for Colombia midfielder Carlos Sanchez was bought in but has largely disappointing. Aly cissocko was brought in at left back and has done a good job so far. Whereas Phillipe senderos has been injured too much to tell yet. The best business they did though was keep there star play such as delph, vlaar and benteke.

How their results have gone - so far about what you would expect even though they have had good results against top teams such as Liverpool and Manchester utd they have largely struggled and are the lowest scorers in the division at the moment.

How the manager is doing - it seems Paul Lambert is doing the best with what he has got and until he gets a higher calibre of player the team will languish in the bottom half of the table and no other manager could change that.

Star player so far - Christian benteke, now that he is back from injury it is key that villa keep the big Belgian striker fit and firing because without him they will struggle for goals.

What they need to improve - they need to get more goals simply put. They either need to commit more body's forward or they need to sign a new striker or creative midfielder.

Arsenal mid season review 2014-2015

Now that we have hit the mid season of the Barclays premier league season I thought it would be a good idea to review how the 20 teams have done and preview how their seasons will continue. The first is arsenal.
How was their recruitment - to be honest overall arsenal had a pretty positive summer transfer window with the fantastic addition of Alexis Sanchez who has added allot of different dynamics to their team and allot of hard work. Also I believe Danny welbeck has been a great addition with his goals and workrate shining for his new team and I think he can only get better. Mathieu Debuchy and David ospina haven't really had a fair chance yet and callum chambers has done alright but is one more for the future. I do think however, the selling of vermalen didn't work and missing out on fabregas and song really hurt them.

How their results have gone - a bit of a mixed bag for the gunners as even though they are near the upper end of the table their have been some poor defeats to stoke and Manchester utd. There was also a disappointing early exit out of the capital one cup to Southampton. However, they finished runners up in their champions league group and it looks like they have a relatively easy tie next against Monaco.

How the manager has been doing - it seems like some fans are running out of patience with arsene Wenger and even though they one the fa cup last season some would view it as the minimum for a club like arsenal. He has stood up well in adversity and expect him like his team to improve in the second half of the season.

Star performer - Alexis Sanchez, easily been arsenals t player this season the 32 million pound buy from Barcelona has scored goals in both the premier league and champions league on a consistent basis. His constant workrate has been an inspiration to his team mates as he has proven to be a great signing.

What they need to improve - it has been arsenals problem for years that they struggle defensively with crosses and this season has been no different with the defence struggling with set pieces galore. Also sometimes in central midfield they lack a real bite in their with the more active teams rolling over them the majority of the time. They could do with a combative holding midfielder and a commanding central defender in the January transfer window.

why it is stupid for people to be against idris Elba as James bond because of his skin colour

Over the last few days it has been reported that idris Elba is in line to take over the James bond mantle once Daniel Craig finishes up with the character. However, it seems for some stupid reason that people don't believe this to be a good fit for 007 because of the fact of elbas skin colour and I have one thing to say to people who think this, grow up.

Now I thought we were past the days of such stupidity as this in Hollywood but clearly not it is clear that racism is still an issue out there. Now the fact is in the this calender year alone we have had Russel Crowe as Noah and Christian bale as Moses. So if this is acceptable then why is this casting decision suddenly so horrifying. I know there has never been a black James bond but I firmly believe that it is about time that fact changed and I believe that idris Elba is the perfect choice for James bond once Daniel Craig leaves the role. Elba is charismatic but also has that rough edge that bond needs, he is also a physically big guy who there would be no problem there and his acting chops were proved in Mandela a long walk to freedom if you haven't seen his performance in that film you really should. It isn't like the colour of James bonds skin really matters unlike a character like the black panther so I really hope this casting is confirmed and people finally accept Elba for the great actor he really is.

I just would like to thank any people that have liked this first blog of mine, I will be doing blogs mainly about films and football (soccer) and maybe some tv and wrestling so if you liked this then give me a follow and comment what you liked and what I could do to possibly improve.
