Good kill (2015) review

I was interested in seeing this war film because of a decent trailer and some of the cast and now I realise that this film will be completely forgettable to anybody that sees it.

Now the premise of this film sees a supposed true story of an airmen grounded into uav attack work which ends up bringing moral issues in himself when he is given some orders that go against his beliefs.

Now Ethan Hawke was recently Oscar nominated for his work on boyhood which is a film I haven't seen yet but this wasn't his best performance. At times you see evidence that his character is having moral problems with what he is being asked to do but his character isn't made interesting at all by the situations he is put in.

Bruce greenwood is a good actor and I liked him in this film, he provided a realistic insight to warfare and really gave the audience a sense of what his team's situation is. The rest of the members of the team though we're pretty cliche and boring compared to what they really could have and should have been. January Jones has become a pretty big actor and she is perfectly fine in this film but it just felt like her character wasn't even needed in the film and she was a bit of an annoying distraction at times.

The story does have some intense moments in it and actually a view on terrorism that I haven't really thought about allot is addressed in this movie and I like that. But once again the character development was lacking and all the side plots felt awkward and like they shouldn't even be in the film.

The script was untreatable all the way through it is mostly military chat and there characters have such wooden dialogue that their characters feel completely one dimensional.

The style of the film is intense and quite in your face with realism, but by the 50 minute mark I was getting annoyed at seeing basically the same scene 3 times already it just felt lazy and like no effort was put in.

Overall this film is below average and even though not terrible you will completely forget about it after seeing it.

This is the trailer for the film.

Final rating - 4/10
