England squad reaction

Today the England squad was picked for the qualifier against Lithuania and the friendly against Italy and I am going to give my reactions to the squad.

Goalkeepers
Joe Hart - is easily England manager Roy hodgsons pick for his top goalkeeper and after last night's performance against Barcelona how can you argue that Hart is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Fraser forster - a really impressive season for the Southampton keeper and he truly deserves his selection and may even play in the friendly match.

Defenders
Leighton Baines - has had a difficult season but still remains England's first choice left back, even though I don't think he really should be in the team.

Gary Cahill - Chelseas centre back has had a bit of a mixed season but good enough that he still merits a place in the squad, also the lack of quality defenders guarantee his selection.

Nathaniel Clyne - the Southampton right back is the best in the league in his position and his selection is obvious and he should play both games.

Kieran Gibbs - the left back has had a pretty decent season and deserves his place in the squad even though I think Baines will play over him.

Phil jagielka - as I said earlier there isn't too much quality in the centre back position and that is why jagielka is in the squad as he had not had a great season.

Luke Shaw - I can't believe Shaw is in the squad as he has been injured for the majority of the season and when he has played has not impressed. I think Ryan Bertrand should have got this place instead of Shaw.

Chris smalling - similar to Jones he has had a pretty decent season so far and deserves his place in the squad based on his league form.

Kyle walker - after returning from injury walker has impressed for spurs and his return to the squad is the right decision.

Midfielders
Jordan Henderson - Englands most consistent midfield player has been so impressive for Liverpool in the centre of the park that he is one of the key players for England.

Ross Barkley - similar to Shaw I can't believe that Barkley has got in the squad due to his injury problems and lack of form that should have allowed for somebody else to get his spot.

Michael Carrick - Carrick has been an important player for United this season and I think he can still be important for England in these big games.

Fabian delph - delph hasn't really had that impressive season and I don't think he should be in the squad with a player with a bit more belief should have come in.

Adam lallana - when he first moved to Liverpool lallana struggled but now he is in top form and is a creative player that can help get through harder teams.

James Milner - even though he hasn't played every week Milner has been really important for city this season and his ability to play a few positions helps his cause.

Raheem sterling - another really good season for sterling and his electric pace really gives England something different and gives the team a great outball.

Andros Townsend - I don't understand how Houston can pick Townsend because he has barely had a kick for spurs this season and when he has I have not seen a consistent impressive run for him. I think Ashley young should have got this place in the team.

Theo Walcott - I think if Alex oxlade Chamberlain was fit then Walcott wouldn't be in the squad but he isn't so he is in and since returning from injury he had done a decent job so why not have him in.

Forwards
Harry Kane - the biggest no brainer in the selection, after an impressive 26 goals this season he had to be picked and he should start at least the qualifying game.

Wayne Rooney - the captain was always going to get picked and he has been in top form recently which truly makes his selection even more obvious.

Daniel sturridge - recently returning from injury sturridge has impressed and is a good choice for the squad but I think he is now behind Rooney and Kane in the pecking order.

Danny welbeck - not lit the world a storm since joining arsenal but Roy seems to trust him in his side, even though I would have chose Charlie Austin instead.

Those are my opinions for the England squad which I was pretty happy with.
