The new episode of arrow has come and I think this episode is definitely worth talking about. Be careful for spoilers if you have not seen the episode you should see it before reading this.
In a desperate attempt to take down brick team arrow have to contemplate an offer from Malcolm merlyn for aid. Flashbacks show how merlyn became the man he is and his ascension to the league of assassins. Also the arrow returned to starling city.
Now that Oliver is back I expect him to be the person we focus mostly on but this episode was a true Malcolm merlyn episode. John barrowman is so good as merlyn and whether it was in present day or the flashbacks he did a fantastic job in portraying this damaged twisted guy.
Roy, laurel and thea did a great job in this episode but I feel like there characters weren't that important to the episode. Vinnie Jones has truly become Danny brickwell and I loved what they did with his character in this episode and I really do hope he is back before the end of the season. Felicity was an important character in the episode but I felt like her reasoning was a bit naive and I just didn't like it. The character that I think will have the most dramatic tale of the rest of the season is Quentin lance. It is clear that he is starting to work out what is going on and when he finds out that Sara is dead and laurel has been lying to him I don't see how that relationship can be repaired.
I love seeing the merlyn Flashbacks and have finally given me the origin story that I have wanted since the first season of arrow and now I want more merlyn Flashbacks. I also love the fact that they revealed that brick was the one who killed merlyns wife and this gave him much more character and a reason for this episode to go down. The big siege mentality of the episode was great and I love that it looks like Merlyn will be the one to train Oliver to beat the league.
This was a more dramatic episode so the drama was really played up, I do kind of wish there was a little more humour in the episode to allow a bit of a lighter mood.
This was one of the best action scenes in arrow history and it really was great to watch all these characters throw down and look important without the arrow.
Overall this is one of my favourite episodes of the season and I hope to see more like this is.
