I have just got out of seeing kingsman and all my mates agreed me with me that this is one of the funnier films they have seen in recent memory and a real surprise hit.
This film sees a young chav being recruited into a secret spy organisation by a mentor to take down a crazy internet hacking billionaire who plans to destroy all of mankind.
Now in the lead is Taron Egerton as eggsy and I really want to see this kid in more stuff after this. His character could have been incredibly unlikable and hurt the film but he had the quality to make us care about his character and like his character which is impressive and shows he has real potential.
It also helps that they give him a fantastic supporting cast in this film. Colin furth plays his mentor in the film and he has never been better, he was like a Roger Moore bond with his cool style. But he has never done better action then in this film and I truly believed every action sequence he did and how great it was. Samuel l Jackson plays the villain in the film and I definitely think he is the funniest character in the film, the character is given a lisp and I truly believe that he was the only actor who could make this work and make his villain hilarious. Mark strong plays eggsys trainer and he is also great in his role as an instructor. Michael caine plays the head of kingsman and does a great job as always in his role.
The story is the one weakness in this entire film, I know this is just meant to be a fun film and the story doesn't matter but I believe that a fun film can still have a really intriguing narrative to it but not this film. First of all we have all seen the rags to riches story and this one is just as cliche as all the others that have come before it. Also Samuel l Jackson's plot feels complicated and over the top for this film and a slight hint at something deeper that wasn't necessary. There was also a moment in the film that I didn't like at all and think it could have been handled allot better.
The script is fantastic and had some of the best dialogue in a recent film. The humour was great and almost everything hit making this a hugely funny film, also the banter between the characters made this film feel alive and something that you should watch.
The style was great, the action is insane and fantastic at the same time, their is one scene involving Colin furth in a church that in my opinion maybe one of the greatest fight scenes ever. It did what it set out to do and it did it with flying colours.
Overall this is a great film that I advise everybody to watch and I will definitely be looking to get it in blu ray.
