Transcendence review (2014)

Now this film is directed by Christopher nolan's main cinematographer and it is now clear that Nolan has all the brains behind the films. I just wish I could get these two hours back instead I watched this film.

This film sees Johnny depps character and others attempt to create a fully functional AI and once he is shot his wife and research partner attempt to upload him to an AI. He then starts to commit shady acts and become a worldwide threat.

Now Johnny depp has become known for playing eccentric over the top characters recently but in this film he plays a normal guy and it is nice to see him acting again. However, his character is not very interesting at all and not given anything to do and it really hurts the film.

Rebecca hall is an actress who is getting much more work for good reason and she is good in this film and she is probably the one with the best performance. It does seem that Nolan loaned out some of his regulars for this film but they weren't used that well at all. Paul bettany, cillian Murphy and Morgan Freeman are all good actors but there characters are not really given anything to do in this film at all And it hurt the quality of the film.

The story had all the potential to be great and really hit a high emotional level but it completely failed. This story didn't hit the high level that it should have done and it didn't feel as big as it should have been. For some reason this film takes place over a few years but it really didn't need to be and actually felt like it was completely illogical for this to be the case.

The script was poor and it really didn't allow any of the characters to be that interesting and didn't give us any real interesting moments with the characters.

with the cinematographer being a director this film impresses visually but I must admit that this film is incredibly slow and boring. I counted and it took 80 mins for any action to take place in this film and then it went on for like 30 seconds and really made this film hard to watch.

Overall this is a bad film and one that you really shouldn't waste your time seeing.
