I know it is a little late but I have finally been able to see the Steven hawkings biopic The Theory of everything and even though I thought this wouldn't be my cup of tea I ended up loving it.
This film is the story of the greatest physicist ever Stephen hawking and his relationship with his wife and his problems with his life altering disease.
Now I always think an actor has done a fantastic job when they become a role and I did not see Eddie Redmayne on screen I saw Stephen hawking. Because of the disease hawking has he becomes more disabled as the film goes and this brings out more and more layers of his acting ability as he has to put all his acting chops on the table and show us that he deserves the Oscar which I am now really happy that he got.
Felicity Jones is really good in the film as his wife and you can tell they have great chemistry together, you feel for her character as she goes through this situation and you root for her just as you root for hawking which is no small feat. Credit to Charlie Cox aswell as I liked his role in this film and even though it wasn't huge it was nice to see him before He becomes Daredevil.
Now this is a really interesting story because it deals with the life of one of the greatest minds to ever live and thus his life is an interesting complicated journey that we have to see. I do however, wish we had seen a bit more of his work and theory then we did and that may have bumped the score of the film up a bit.
The script was a massive surprise to me because of the subject matter I just expected it to be a dramatic film but there was allot of comedy in the film. Now I don't always require this but it really did work for this film.
The style of the film is a bit of a mixed bag, I mean the film is beautifully shot and looks beautiful but I just feel it went a bit over the top with its visuals and it wasn't really necessary.
I loved this film and I think you should definitely see it.
