Agents of shield season 2 mid season review (2014)

I ended up enjoying the first season of marvels agents of shield but I thought their was improvement to be made and I think the first half of season 2 has been a big improvement and been everything it should be.

The story of this season sees the team try to find an ancient artifact before hydra does. While also the team tries to deal with coulsons carving problem and also skyes origin.

Clark Gregg plays Phil coulson and he continues in his great portrayal of the character. He continues the dry humour that his character has always had and also because of his situation he does a good job in his emotional role.

The rest of the original cast are back and Skye, fitz, Simmons and ward have really interesting stories this season and I feel like I care about them more then last season. The additions of Hunter, Mack and Bobbi have been great and have really added something to the team. I do feel like there are a few too many people in the team and that may and triplett haven't had the moments they really deserve. The villains have been great and I feel like they are more interesting then the villains from season 1.

The first half of the first seasons story lacked focus but I don't think this season has made the mistake and the simple treasure hunt story has worked. The rest of the supporting stories have also worked and been a great addition. However, in the mid season finale there is clearly something that we are meant to care about but it falls a little flat in its execution.

The script is much better then the first season and the mix of humour and drama really works in this season more with the new additions to the team.

The style is still great with the production levels at a high standard and the fight choreography has improved to the levels of other shows.

Overall this is a fantastic start to the second season and I think it can get even better.

Avengers Age of ultron predictions

I have been doing predictions for the new comic book shows so I thought I would do it for the films starting with Avengers age of ultron.

Scarlett witch will give all the members of the Avengers nightmares - from the second trailer it is clear that we are going to get individual moments with each of the Avengers and I believe that these are nightmares that have been inflicted by Scarlett witch's powers.

James Rhodes will die - it is well known that joss whedon is happy to kill people if it works for the story and I believe they have brought in war machine so he can die. I think his death by ultrons hands will be a big thing in setting up civil war and causing Tony stark to take his radical approach.

Ultron will destroy allot of the world - again with civil war it is clear that ultron will destroy allot of the world which will cause that films plot. I expect that he will cause allot of death and destruction that will cause humanity to take drastic steps.

Vision will be the one to stop ultron - many people have wanted to see the vision in the trailers so far but it is clear that marvel are keeping it secret and saving it for the film. I think vision will be the one to stop ultron and make him into a full avenger for future films.

There will be allot of set up for marvel phase 3 - with so many films in phase 3 it is clear that they will set up for the phase 3, we have seen the character of klaw is going to be in the film and this will set up black panther. Also just the whole plot will set up captain America civil war.

Overall I am so looking forward to this film, I am a little worried about overcrowdness but that will not stop me from seeing this film and looking forward to it immensely.

American Sniper review (2015)

This film has been getting mixed reviews everywhere, some people hate it, some people love it and I must say with this film I am closer to the second option. This film is a great return to form for Clint Eastwood and it is a film I think people should see.

This film documents the life of Chris Kyle who is the deadliest sniper in the US history with almost 200 confirmed kills. It shows his tours in the war and how he reacts when he gets home with this family.

Now Bradley Cooper is fantastic in the role and I truly believe he believed he was Chris Kyle and that he wanted to be as close to the real person as possible. He got all the mannerisms right and made himself to be a likeable character even though what he was doing could be seen as bad. Cooper truly does deserve his Oscar nomination for best performance and it is nice to see he can pull off the dramatic roles alongside his more comedic roles.

Siena Miller plays his wife and she does a great job too trying to be a rock in his life even though he is barely around. You felt for her character and what she was going through and you wanted him to see how much he was hurting her and their children. In the film there is a rival sniper that is set up and they gave him a bit of back story and he was a cool character even though you felt like he wasn't overly important. Most of the supporting cast though wasn't interesting and they really failed to stand out in this film.

The story about Kyle is really interesting and his character is shown to be a legend but Eastwood tries to bring him more down to earth and just like a regular person in these firefights. also I liked how it looked at some of the trauma that comes out of war even though I think their could have been a little more. However, Eastwood does treat this situation mostly as very black and white when his job is in fact completely grey. I wish they had gone a little bit more into the morality of the character and this unique individual.

The script was great and Eastwood managed to fit in the right amount of drama blended with a bit of humour to make this story feel real and make the characters feel like real people which was essential in this film.

The style of the film was beautiful and it didn't over dramatize wary and Made it out to be the dark battlefield that war really is. It was gritty and real which was necessary due to it being a true story.

Overall this is a great war film that should be seen.

The Fantastic Four trailer review

I have been waiting for a while now to see anything to do with new fantastic four film and today we have finally got a trailer for the film and I must say it is not bad. I feel like this trailer did the job of a first trailer and gave us the tone of the film off the bat and I liked the tone.

Now to be fair this trailer is quite by the numbers and feels allot like the recent ant man trailer but this formula works. There is a voiceover about the world in this film and I have heard people suggest that this is Dr doom but I am not sure. That is one thing I was a bit upset about because we have heard all about these bad rumours involving dooms origin that I feel like if we had seen him we could have had an opinion on the character. With the voiceover and the sombre score it seems they are going for a more dark tone this time which is what I want because I don't like the first two films and they were really about bad jokes.

Now there has been allot of controversy about the fact that these are younger versions of the fantastic four but to be honest after the last attempt at the group I am happy with them making a change as long as they still feel like the characters we want to see. I mean there are some great actors in this film, I have not seen whiplash yet but I have heard that miles teller is great in that film and Michael b Jordan is great in fruitvale station so I have faith in the actors to pull it off. The film looks great and I'm glad they only showed us brief parts of their powers because I want to see the majority of them in the cinema.

Now this film still worries me a little bit with the reports of Dr doom being a blogger and alternate dimensions, I just hope they keep the story simple and even though they have changed allot of the material stay true to who the characters are. If they do that then they should be okay.

Maleficent review (2014)

This movie has now come onto sky movies so I thought I would watch it and I thought this film was above average and has some good things about it.

The story sees a retelling of the sleeping beauty story told from the perspective of the villain Maleficent. The film sees a young maleficent get her wings stolen from her so she loses control and curses the kings daughter to fall asleep forever on her 16th birthday.

Now Angelina jolie is a fantastic actress and director so now she is maleficent and I think there is nobody on the planet that could have done a better job as the character. She reminded me of the Loki as the facts that even though she is the villain her charisma makes you like her and feel for her character.

Sharleto copley is great as the king and his character felt like a guy that was losing his mind and he was deteriorating throughout the film and was pretty dark. The girl that played aroura didn't really get a chance to deliver a great performance but she wasn't very interesting. The three fairies got on my nerves and they just irritated me throughout.

The story about maleficent was great and it showed her in a different light, with Angelina jolie's performance and the story beats they gave her really worked. However, there was a few things that were shoehorned into the film and felt throwaway for the story. Also the ending was a bit too nice for my liking which could have been made better.

The script was alright, maleficent's dialogue was good but there was allot of childish dialogue and fails of humour that kind of took away from certain aspects of the film.

The style sometimes was darker then I expected and I really liked some of the dark moments of the film. However, sometimes the cgi looked ridiculous and not interesting at all.

Overall this film is okay and coverage average plus it is an easy watch.

WWE Royal Rumble review (2015)

Now I have decided to start reviewing the WWE pay per views and I feel like I have to start with this year's Royal Rumble that I have just finished watching. Spoilers if you have not seen the show yet.

The show started with the new heel team from NXT The Ascension defeating the legendary tag team The New Age Outlaws. Now I have not been a huge fan of the ascensions gimmick, their promos suck and their look strikes me of a LOD, Demolition and powers of pain rip off that aren't really anything special. This was an alright match and it is always good to see road dogg and Billy Gunn but this match felt like a raw match and really nothing special.

The usos retained the tag titles against the miz and Damien mizdow in an okay match. The Philadelphia crowd were hugely behind mizdow and it's nice to see they are finally building to a match between mizdow and miz at wrestlemania. The match was okay but again nothing special and I think the usos will face the ascension at mania.

Brock Lesnar retained the wwe world heavyweight championship against Seth Rollins and John Cena. This match was easily the best of the night but I do believe that this match was a bit of a finisher fest which isn't that interesting. The moment where Rollins put lesnar through the table was great and was the showcase of the night.

As expected Roman Reigns won the 2015 royal rumble. Every year the royal rumble match is my most anticipated match of the year but the last few years have been a disappointment and this year is exactly the same. There were 3 surprise entrants this year that were bubba ray Dudley, ddp and the boogeyman and they were all good even though I don't understand why Randy Orton didn't return for this event. Bray wyatt was the star of the rumble lasting over 45 minutes but his early portions of the match was boring and just saw allot of short entrants. Then the moment that really ruined the rumble for allot of people, now I don't believe Daniel Bryan should have been in this match and then he got eliminated early so the wwe made the same mistake as last year and because of it the rumble was ruined for two years. When Roman reigns entered the rumble he was booed by all the fans and I felt sorry for him because the wwe really threw him in the deep end and under the bus. The end of this match sucked as well with Kane and big show going through the match and it was boring and actually hard to watch. After an attack by Kane and show the rock came out to make the save and once reigns eliminated rusev and won the rumble the fans showed they did not care. The wwe tried to make the fans like reigns by associating him with the rock but that plan failed and the fans still didn't care.

Overall this show had one stand out match but the rumble match itself was a huge disappointment and the wwe really need to up their game heading into wrestlemania.

Arrow : Rest of season predictions

I did this for the flash and next is arrow, after the shocking mid season finale people have been predicting how the rest of the third season will go and here are my predictions. There will be spoilers for season 3 of arrow and also the first two seasons of the show, if you haven't seen it then please start as arrow is probably the best superhero tv show ever.

Ras ah ghul has a secret agenda that will be revealed when Oliver returns - as seen at the end of episode 9 Ras has killed Oliver queen but he still has a reason to return to starling city which is Malcolm Merlyn and thea. He is still looking for Sara's killer and that will lead to him bringing the league to town. However, once Oliver returns I believe that his secret agenda will be Revealed. In the comics Ras ah ghul tries to get Batman to take his place at the head of the league and I think this story will be adapted with Ras trying to make Oliver become the head of the league of assassins.

The flashback scenes and the present day scenes will coexist with the overall plot - so far this season the big story arc hasn't really coexisted with the flashback scenes but I believe that will change. So far the Hong Kong scenes have been teasing a bio weapon with China white and I believe that Ras ah ghul will look for this bio weapon to destroy starling city and that will cause everybody to team up to avoid the destruction. Also it seems that something terrible Will happen and that could lead to future stories.

Deathstroke will become the leader of the suicide squad and will help team arrow - it has been confirmed that episode 14 will be the episode where Manu Bennett will return as Slade Wilson and I believe that he will become the leader of the suicide squad. I believe the new group will consist of deathstroke, captain boomerang, cupid, bronze tiger and deadshot. Also I believe that they will aid team arrow in the right against the league of the assassins for their own needs.

Laurel will become a fully fledged black canary and members of team arrow - many people have complained that they have been to quick to make laurel the black canary with her adopting the costume in the next episode. However, she will not be that skilled at the beginning of her quest, but I do believe that towards the end of the season she will become more efficient and will be accepted as a member of team arrow for future seasons.

Malcolm merlyn will become the leader of the league of assassins and thea will become an occasional member of team arrow - I don't think that Ras ah ghul Will permanently die this season, however, I believe that there will be new leadership in the league of assassins. I think that nyssa and maseo will turn on Ras and Merlyn Will take over. I think this will lead to Oliver accepting thea's abilities and letting her occasionally join the team.

Overall I have loved the first half of this season and I think arrow can really build on the bold choice they took at the mid season finale.

Jake Gyllenhaal passes on the suicide squad and X-Men apocalypse makes 3 new castings

Some big news in the comic book film universe this week with the reports that Jake Gyllenhaal has passed on the role of Rick Flag in the suicide squad and that the next X-Men film will have 3 new versions of younger X-Men.

When Tom hardy left the suicide squad last week it was reported because of his relationship with director David Ayer he was offered the role of Rick Flag but he has turned down the role. In my opinion Gyllenhaal would have done a good job in the role as he is a great actor but now I am worried about this film. It was reported that possibly Tom hardy had problems with the script and the use of his character so possibly this could have been a reason why Gyllenhaal didn't want anything to do with this film. Apparently Rick Flag is going to be the leader of the squad and with the film coming out next year they really need to cast him quickly and after the two actors who have been linked in the role they need a big actor for the role in my opinion.

Also big news in the X-Men universe is that a young storm, Jean grey and Cyclops have been cast. Tye Sheridan is playing young Cyclops, Sophie Turner is young Jean grey and Alexandra shipp is young storm.  Now I don't know these actors because I have not seen anything they have been in but I am happy that these characters are going to be in the film. I think this is just the natural progression for the young X-Men to add these key characters to the roster especially as they have to fight the unstoppable Apocalypse. I hope they can get the performances right because I think their characters have been portrayed that well in the films and I hope this will be better.

The flash : rest of season predictions

In the UK we have not got the flash back yet, it is still a couple of weeks till the show returns to sky one so I thought I would make some predictions for what I expect or want to happen from now until the end of season 1. Warning there will be spoilers for the first half of the season.

Harrison wells reveals himself as the reverse flash stuck in this time loop - as seen at the end of the mid season finale Harrison wells is actually the reverse flash. We saw him getting attacked by the other reverse flash and I believe that reverse flash is him from the future that is trying to alter the time line. I believe that wells is a different version that is trying to protect the time line and protect and get the best out of Barry Allen because he needs barry Allen to become the flash so that in the future Harrison wells becomes the reverse flash. He is stuck in this time loop for some reason and has no way of getting back to the future just like himself from the future, who I believe has a bigger reason for coming back to central city.

Iris will choose barry which will cause Eddie to flip and become Hunter zolomon - in the comics there are a few different versions of the reverse flash and it looks like Eddie thawne is being set up as the Hunter zolomon character. I think that iris is going to eventually choose barry over Eddie and this will cause him to hate Barry, he will then find out he is the flash and hate the flash. After an accident to him I believe some way he will get the powers of the reverse flash and become the Hunter zolomon character. I actually think this will be in the finale of season 1 leading to him being the main villain of season 2. More evidence to this theory is that the reverse flash had the chance to kill Eddie in episode 9 but didn't take it showing that he knows Eddie has to become the reverse flash.

The rogues will help the flash defeat the reverse flash - now so far in the UK we have only met captain cold but it is clear we are going to meet heatwave, pied piper, the trickster and a few more members of the rogues this season. It was stated in episode 4 that captain colds freeze guns were the most powerful weapon against a person with flash powers. I think the reverse flash has a plan to destroy the whole of central city so I believe that temporarily the rogues will align with team flash to stop the city from being destroyed.

Firestorm will become an important character which may eventually lead to his own tv show - now don't get me wrong so far all Ronnie Raymond has really been is a light show as a character, but I believe that is because he is going to be built up for the rest of this season and next maybe to eventually get his shown show. I think over the next few episodes they are going to look at his relationship in the firestorm project and his relationship with kaitlin more in depth so we actually care n he gets his mind back.

Joe is going to die - now when you think about the seasons of arrow at least one major good character has died each season and I don't see why this wouldn't continue in this show. When it comes to this I believe that Joe has the biggest chance of being killed, I like the performance by the actor but I think story wise that may be best for the show. I think his death would be the thing that separates barry and iris and stops them from being a proper couple as he doesn't want to endanger her, also I think his father will be released from jail so he won't need another father figure. But mainly because of the fact that someone normally dies and story wise this character makes the most sense.

Well those are some of my predictions for what will happen in the remainder of the first season of the flash. So far I have loved the flash and think it provides a great counter to arrow and I hope that all the ideas of mine are used.

Fruitvale Station review (2014)

Now there are those films that are fantastic but are so disturbing that you don't even think you can see it again and fruitvale station is one of these films.

This is a true story about 22 year old Oscar grant and documents the last day of 2008 and documents his day with the people closest to him until he ends up in the fruitvale station and tragedy strikes.

Now Michael b Jordan does a fantastic job in the role and he truly encapsulates this real person and his real life performance makes the end of this film even more tragic and hard to watch.

The supporting cast is also great, melonie Diaz plays grants girlfriend and she also delivers a real performance that makes you feel for her character as well as jordan's. Octavia Spencer also does a great job as his mother and her character is the one that seems to be the moral centre of the film. The girl they got to play his daughter is really good and their chemistry is really good and makes you see grants human side.

The story is a little of a mixed bag. I was happy that they didn't make Oscar grant a flawless person they showed the real portrayal of the character and the way that he had flaws made you feel sorry for the whole thing at the end. Because this is a true story I sometimes take some boring parts as true to story but there are a few parts that the director has admitted didn't happen and I actually don't think these scenes were really that necessary. Now for the controversy, this film does portray the police in the situation and I actually think they did a good job in making them more sympathetic then they had to.

The script was great with all the dialogue feeling real and human. It was funny when it needed to be, dramatic when it needed to be and also heartfelt when it needed to be, it did conflict well which was necessary.

The style of the film works because of the fact that it isn't in a nice part in the world but nobody deserves the treatment that this man got and you really fill that in the way this film is made.

Overall this film is fantastic but is not always an easy watch.

Arsenal's win over man city can be the turn around the club needs.

I watched arsenal beat man city 2-0 last Sunday and I was amazed as I have never ever seen an arsene Wenger arsenal team set up in that way. I truly believe that performance can be the launching point that sees them challenging and winning titles on a consistent basis in the future.

Now I know that Manchester city had a bad game, I know there was maybe a dubious penalty involved and I know this was only one game. But the fact is that arsenal won this game against all the odds and that is what matters.

The reason I feel this can be a big launching pad is the fact that arsene Wenger has finally started to respect his opposition. For a few seasons now arsenal have beaten all the mid to lower teams in the table but been beaten and sometimes humiliated by the top teams which has kept them only contending for the top four and not the title. But this result makes me think that Wenger is finally going to show respect to the bigger teams and be more competitive in those games. Also recently Wenger admitted his team needed to toughen up and that he needed to sign a centre back so it shows he knows the problems and is finally addressing them.

Let's get this straight, arsenal have one of the best attacking forces in the whole of the premier league so scoring goals won't be a problem for them it has always be the defending that has been the problem. Wenger knows how to win trophies he has shown that especially with his invincibles and now that he has learnt how to get this team to defend they must kick on. It is all good winning against man city but if they lose to Brighton in the fa cup and then their next league game them it will be for nothing.

I don't think arsenal have a chance of winning the title this season but I think if they continue this smart approach in the big games and their attack continues to flourish then with the right signings they can challenge for the title next season.

Wild review (2015)

I have heard allot of good things about this film and I think the premise of the film could be really cool but unfortunately this film blew it and becomes just an average film.

This film chronicles a woman's personal journey on a 1,100 mile hike to try and get over a personal tragedy and restore her life.

Now Reese Witherspoon is a good actress and she has received an Oscar nomination for this performance and I must say with the utmost respect that this must have been a weak year for leading ladies. I thought she did an okay job in the role but her character was actually quite bland and actually seemed like quite a bad person, in some of the flashback scenes she is showed in a really bad light and by the end of the film I just think this character hasn't changed as much as she should have on this crazy hike.

Laura Dern has been nominated for her role in this film and once again I feel like it must be weak. Even though she is good in the film her character isn't really featured that much to become overly attached to her character. Witherspoons brother and ex husband are not interesting at all and everybody she meets on the trail are completely forgettable.

The story as I said at the beginning had the potential to be fantastic and really emotional and sometimes it shows some instances of this but not enough. There needed to be more emotional scenes and more time with characters that we had to care about it. I also think the idea of the hike was mostly forgotten, this is a true story and this accomplishment is made to easy in this film and the hugeness of the challenge should have been Augmented and I feel like a different director could have done this.

The script is okay with some of the dialogue being interesting but as I said allot of the characters don't have anything interesting to say and come across as bland.

The cinematography is great and the backgrounds of the hike look absolutely fantastic. But this film's style of film making makes it feel really really slow and I thought this film was like 2 1/2 hours and it turns out it's 35 minutes shorter then that which I couldn't believe.

Overall this film is completely average and I know you have heard the hype but unless your really interested don't bother with this film.

Iron Man 2 review (2010)

The next film in the marvel cinematic universe was iron man 2 and I must say I actually think this is the worst film that marvel has made in the new universe. This film isn't that bad but because of the high standards of the other films.

The premise of this film sees Tony stark trying to keep the iron man suit out of the hands of the government. While also a person from his past comes back to haunt him with his own tech.

Robert Downey jnr is great in the role as Tony stark and even though this is the weakest film he has been in he is still great. He is still the narcissist that we loved in the first film and he keeps up his trash talking ways in the sequel.

The supporting cast is really good as well, Gwyneth paltrow return as pepper Potts and her character evolves in this film and once again her chemistry with Downey is really good and quality significant part of the film. Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard as James Rhodes and he did just as good a role and his character becomes a more important part of the film in this one and I believe he may be a bigger part of age of ultron then people expect. Sam Rockwell is the main villain Justin hammer and he is great, he was portrayed as a parallel of Tony stark and it really worked in this film. Scarlett Johansson is in this film and her character is shaded in mystery in this film and I think her character is going to be explored more in agar of ultron.

The story is where this film really fails as their is just too many things going on in this film. I just think they put the many characters in this film and they felt they had to give importance to all of them in this film. If they had just had the government going after Tony Starks suits then this film would have been focused and totally could have been great.

The script was alright with Downey and rockwells dialogue being funny and working for the film. However, there was just some unnecessary additions of comedy that didn't work and vanko is just quite hard to understand.

The action scenes in this film are great as you would expect and the action in these films are directed really well. But there is a bad direction of the dialogue and the way it is presented hurts the film as people talk over each other and you won't be able to hear.

Overall this is an above average film and if you want to have the complete marvel collection then this film is watchable and when you watch the others you may want to see this film.

Premier league weekend roundup

This weekend saw some surprising results and this is the weekend roundup.

Best scoreline of the weekend - Chelsea, a fantastic result for the blues this weekend beating Swansea 5-0 and really looking like they are sending a message to the rest of the title contenders mainly Manchester city. Diego Costa and Oscar were great and really stole the show against the Welsh team who really didn't help themselves.

Best performance of the weekend - arsenal, nobody saw this result coming. Arsenal beating Manchester city 0-2 away from home and this is the first time I have seen the arsenal team be disciplined and come willing to play on the counter attack and they punished Manchester city.

Best player of the weekend - santi cazorla, I have never seen cazorla play as well as he did against city on Sunday. He is playing in a more disciplined central midfield position and he is technically dominant and also willing to make tackles and blocks which I have never seen before. He scored his penalty really well with allot of calmness. He also delivered the free kick for the second goal and cazorla optimized everything good about arsenals performance against city.

Best manager of the weekend - any normal weekend Alan pardew would have got this award for turning Crystal palaces game around, but there is only one man that can get this award. Arsene Wenger, it's great to see that finally Wenger has started to respect his opposition and set up his team in a way that saw a fantastic performance and easily the best in years.

Major talking points - with Chelsea destroying Swansea and Manchester city losing to arsenal I truly believe that if Chelsea beat man city in the next game then the title may be over as I don't see Chelsea losing an 8 point lead. Southampton deserve a huge amount of credit for their performances this season and I kind of hope they can defy the odds and get in the top four. Hull city look like they are going to be a team in trouble this season and they must get some firepower in the January window or they might really be in danger of falling to the championship.

Taken 3 Review (2015)

My first movie review for 2015 is taken 3 and boy did I pick a bad one to start off with. I'd you read my taken 2 review you know that I was a big fan of the first taken film but not so much of the second film. But I actually think this one is the worst of the trilogy.

The premise of the film sees a person who is close to Bryan mills murdered and he is accused of it. With the cops after him Bryan attempts to clear his name, find the person responsible and protect the one good thing left in his life, his daughter.

Now I love Liam neeson in this role as Bryan mills and I truly believe he is the only reason that the second and first film have any credibility in the first place. He is the same character he was in the first and second one but he does the performance well and you gotta give him credit for that.

The supporting cast is not so good. Forest Whitaker plays the cop that is after him and we know he is a good actor but boy he is as cliche as you get. He is just your average cop going after a suspect and he has a chess piece and a rubber band which act as his ticks and I just sighed when I saw him in this film. Famke Janssen really only has one scene in the whole film so I don't think it is really even worth her being mentioned. Now for 3 films now we are meant to care about Maggie graces character and I am sorry but I don't, her character was saddled with a stupid side plot and I actually believe she could have easily been written out of the film. For the record I am not a fan of mission impossible 2 so when I saw dougray Scott was taking over the role of Stuart I knew he was just going to be the same character as his other films and he absolutely is.

Now I will give them credit that they went away from the kidnapping aspect of the story because 3 films in that would have felt even more forced and lazy. But the execution of this new story feels just as lazy because they practically stole the plot of the fugitive. I predicted every big plot line in this film before it happened and I was right, when a film does that it just makes me wonder why I even bothered watching this film.

The script is actually okay with neeson once again selling how awesome he is with all of his dialogue. But everybody else's dialogue is just dull and cliche and none of it is interesting at all.

Now really the best part of the first taken film was the awesome action but not in this film. I do not know what it is with this director but he wants to be the new Paul greengrass and make shaky cam work but he won't because he is just not good enough. You will not see any of the action at all, also there are scenarios in the film that just leave you scratching your head as to how Bryan survived and they never explain it, it was just a way to hollywoodize the action in this film.

Overall this film is bad and is definitely not worth your time to see it so please don't.

300: Rise of an empire review (2014)

I am a massive fan of the original 300 movie and thought it is a bit of an underrated film. I have finally seen the sequel 300: Rise of an empire and even though it is not as good as the original 300 I think it is great.

This story is actually not a prequel or a sequel it starts before the events of 300 and then during the first film and then continues after the events of the first film. This story sees the army of Athens led by General themistokles as he tries to repel the Persian army of xerxes led by vengeful commander artemisia.

Now Gerard butler was great as the lead in the first film and the guy they got to play themistokles did a really good job. He was an awesome warrior, a great leader and also a relatable character.

The supporting cast is a bit of a mixed bag. Though the best performance in the film is Eva green who plays artemisia. Her character was evil and vengeful but after learning a bit about her back story you understand her reasoning and she was just so cool. Lena headey is in the film a small bit as team queen of Sparta and she does a good job even though she isn't in the film that much. The rest of the Athenians apart from themistokles just aren't interesting and you will not care about any of them.

The story is interesting with the time period they chose with it not being just a sequel but also a sequel. I liked it and it fed to the story of uniting all of Greece against xerxes and it kept the theme of the first film intact, that an act of bravery will inspire the rest of Greece to stand up against xerxes.

The script is a bit weak, it does still have some lines that make it feel more then just a simple action film and Eva greens lines are great. Though the rest of the Athenians dialogue is really not very good and you will not care about anything they have to say.

The style of 300 is really unique and gory and it is kept in this film with the cgi looking good and much better then other films that try and put all the money on their special effects. The Gore is over the top but that is what it is meant to be like and I wouldn't want it any different.

Overall this is a great film and I will definitely be looking to get it on blu ray.

Star Wars episode 7 the force awakens teaser trailer review

Yes I know this trailer has been out for a decent amount of time now but I have been super busy and have now gotten the time to discuss my most anticipated film of 2015's first trailer.

Now the original star wars films are my favourite films of all time but then the prequels happened and many people hate star wars. But I truly believe this can be the film to launch star wars to levels that we have never seen before and make it the success story it deserves to be.

Now this trailer starts off on tattoine and shows John boyega in stormtrooper armour. Now there are reports that say that boyega is going to be the main star in the film and with this simple shot of him in the armour it has sparked many discussions about his allegiances in the film. I believe that he was a stormtrooper but he has been stranded and will join the good guys and be trained in the force by the end of the movie for some reason.

We also see new actress daisey Ridley on a speeder heading somewhere pretty fast. What I love about this part is that the sound of the speeder is straight up star wars and it feels like 8 am watching a grittier star wars films like the original trio. I believe that her character is heading to John Boyega as it has been reported they Will be the two leads in the film.

Next we get the throwback of them all when we see the stormtroopers and the rebels in their x wings. Now what I like about this is that you can see that jj Abrams is a star wars fan because of his attention to detail. The uniforms and designs of both groups feels like it did in the originals but also updated because of the fact that it is 30 years since return of the Jedi. Also it is big to point out that Oscar Isaac is an x wing pilot in the trailer because it has been reported that he will be the third member of the trinity with boyega and Ridley in this new star wars universe.

There is a narrator who we now know is Andy serkis who's character seems to be important to the overall star wars universe. He says that the force has awakened and that got me thinking to why the force ever went to sleep and why it is now awakening but I want these theories to be left until the movie. Then it shows a cloaked figure in a forest who draws his lightsaber and it has a hilt like Excalibur and I mean I really like the new design. I think it is a good idea to have a new lightsaber design and a design that actually makes sense. It has been reported that this figure is Adam driver and he will be the villain of the film and I think that would be a good fit.

And then the end of the trailer is possibly the best part. The star wars theme plays and we see the millennium falcon flying away from some TIE fighters. I am really happy that they didn't go the easy way and just show us all of the original cast, they showed us the new cast and the new people that we will hopefully grow to love. I do hope that we see all our original favourites in the second trailer though.

After seeing what Disney has done with marvel I have nothing but optimism for this film that can lead to a larger star wars universe. All this trailer needed to do was give me the tone of the film and I thought it did it perfectly and made me feel like I had my star wars back. I think jj Abrams is the perfect man for this job especially after his job saving star trek he now has to save star wars.

Gotham gets a season 2

Big news today is that Fox have announced that the Batman tv show gotham is in fact going to get a second season.

Now since this is the first time I have spoke about gotham on my blog I guess I better go through the premise. The premise so far sees detective Jim Gordon and his partner Harvey bullock on the case to solve out team murder of the Wayne's. While Bruce Wayne is a young kid dealing with his parents death.

Now I must say I have seen the first 10 episodes of gotham, but we have not had it come back in the UK yet unlike the US. I have been underwhelmed by gotham so far and I really think there is much improvement that is going to be needed. I think there is just too many characters and stories being focused on, if it was up to me I would have Gordon's story, penguin story and the mobs story but apart from that leave out all the comic book character arcs that now they can save for future seasons. If it can focus up on its key stories then I really think there is potential for the show I just guess I wish it was the quality of the flash and arrow but it just isn't yet.

Now I am going to make some predictions from what I want to see in season 2 there may be slight spoilers for gotham so far but I will try my best. I hope that by the time we get to season 2 that falcone is still the head mafia boss but the penguin has taken over both maroni and fish's roles in his organisation as he becomes the head of the mob in season 2. I hope that Gordon and bullock become the top gcpd detectives and have to stop some actual Batman supervillians that have actually been developed on the show like two face and riddler. I hope they save the identity of the Wayne murder and save it for season 2 to make the reveal a big deal and important for the story.

Overall the next half of the season is key for me because if it improves I will definitely be watching season 2 but if it stays as it is or regresses then I will seriously considering not bothering with season 2.

west ham mid season review 2014 - 2015

My last mid season review is for that of west ham United.

How their recruitment went - really good, west ham had a great transfer window. Alex song joined in on loan from Barcelona and has been great and has fully improved their central midfield. Diafra sakho and enner Valencia were brought in as strikers and they have done a great job upfront so far this season. Aaron cresswell joined from Ipswich and has really stepped up to the levels of the premier league well. Carl jenkinson has done well at right back and and some arsenal fans wish he was back there. Chekou koyate joined in the summer and has done a decent job so far.

How performances have gone - fantastically, last season they struggled but after the transfer business they did in the summer they have been a relegation this season. They defeated Manchester city and have been very consistent this season that has been a huge surprise.

How the manager has done - also fantastically, Sam allardyce was under allot of pressure to improve the football at Upton park and boy hasn't he just done that and showed the critics that he is a highly tactical manager.

Star player - Stewart downing, after really failing at Liverpool it seems Sam allardyce has improved this player to a huge degree. Being moved into a more central position he has got more assists and goals and has now got a recall into the England squad.

What they need to improve - they need all their players to stay fit and keep up exceeding expectations to keep up their position but tactically I think they are doing everything right.

Final positioning - 9th

Full Metal Jacket review (1987)

I am a fan of Stanley kubricks a clockwork Orange and now i have seen his war film full metal jacket and I must say it is great.

The premise of this film sees a soldier who is becoming dehumanized by his altercations with war. First is his training boot camp and then being stationed in the Vietnam war.

Matthew Modine plays the lead soldier joker and he does an okay job I mean he does the soldier type character well like everybody else but we're meant to feel more for his character and to be honest I don't really, there is a scene towards the end of the film that makes him more relatable but it's a little late.

The supporting cast are the same with all of them doing a good job in there realistic roles, Adam Baldwin is in the film and he does a good job in his crazy role. There is a fantastic performance in this film and it is by the drill instructor, his character totally fitted the film and really carried the first 30 mins or more of the film.

The story is a bit of a mixed bag because this film is technically split in half really. I absolutely loved the boot camp scenes and I thought it really worked and part of me wished the whole film was in the boot camp but it wasn't. The parts in Vietnam are a mixed bag with a bit of down time and I don't think it went far enough in the severity of war. But there was some great action scenes and it made you feel with the soldiers. Also I thought the end wasn't great and could have been improved.

The script was really good and the dialogue felt right for an army boot camp and I think Kubrick encapsulated that really well. Even though the drill instructors lines were mostly not scripted but the dialogue is great.

The style is fantastic, kubricks style really worked for the war film and the cinematography really made you feel like you are with the marines and on the mission with them.

Overall this is a great film that I will definitely be looking to get this on blu ray and you guys should see it too.

Tom Hardy Leaves The Suicide Squad, Jake Gyllenhaal lined up to replace him

The big comic book film news overnight was that Tom Hardy who was cast as Rick Flag in the new suicide squad movie has had to drop out. It has also been reported that Jake Gyllenhaal is being lined up to replace Hardy.

First of all I am disappointed with the news because I really really like Tom hardy as an actor and I thought he was perfect casting for the character of Rick Flag. I also thought he brought allot of star power to a film that not too many people know about the characters. It seems that it has been a scheduling conflict with mad max that has caused this news but there has been other rumours about his departure. These are all rumours but apparently Hardy wasn't too happy with the new script that changed some things about his character and left him out more in favour of more deadshot and joker scenes. There have also been timid rumours about a falling out with will Smith but I don't believe these rumours.

Now about them replacing him with Jake Gyllenhaal, I mean I like Gyllenhaal allot so acting wise I am not worried I am just not sure if he is the right fit for Rick Flag. Now I think Gyllenhaal was snubbed by the academy and deserved an Oscar nomination for his performance in nightcrawler but I thought that film set him up for a different comic book character. I think Jake Gyllenhaal would have been a great joker, I am happy with Jared leto but I thought Gyllenhaal would have been perfect. Though after seeing nightcrawler I am hoping he can transform himself again into Rick Flag.

Overall I am upset about Tom hardy's departure but I believe they have got a good actor to replace him in Jake Gyllenhaal if that report becomes fact.

Inception review (2010)

I have heard about this film for so many years but I have never had the chance to actually see it myself, I finally have and I must say I think this may be one of the greatest films I have ever seen.

The premise sees a man who can steal secrets from peoples dreams with his consciousness. A business man makes him plant an idea into another business man's dream which is called an inception. This is all I am going to say as the beauty about this film is not knowing allot going into this.

Now I love Leonardo DiCaprio, I think he is one of the best actors working today and this is proven in this film. He is the most developed character in the film and he really carries the emotional weight of the film on his back and you really empathize with his character, even though he has done some bad things.

This is possibly one of the greatest casts of all time and this is further emphasized by just how good the supporting cast is. Ellen page is really the second most developed character and she is an architect of dreams and she was really good in the film with her and DiCaprio's chemistry really working. Ken wantanabe is the business man who hires DiCaprio and he is great in the film as well and fits his character perfectly. Joseph Gordon levitt is in the film as well and his action scenes were breathtaking and every fight he was in really left me on the edge of my seat. Tom hardy was probably my favourite character in the film, this guy is just such a good actor and he also has awesome action scenes and his character is suave and cool as well. Marion cottillard and cillian Murphy are also great in the movie but the less you know about them the better.

The story is really complicated it's true but once you piece everything together you will realise just how good it is. I love how they explained all the dreams and the causality behind everything like the time difference. It just makes a complicated narrative easier to understand, also the emotional scenes did work and made DiCaprios character someone we could relate too. This is probably one of the most talked about endings in recent memory too and all I will say that that it is all up to your own interpretation.

The script is great with some well placed humour among all the dramatic dialogue that was used. Once again I am going to go back to the explanation of the dreams and how I loved that very action had a reason and they simplified it so this film didn't become overly confusing.

The style is one of the best ever, the action scenes are just awesome and when stuff is flying about and fights going on in twisting buildings it just builds for awesome action. Also the score from Hans Zimmer is superb and utterly captures the feeling of the film fantastically.

Overall I love this film and believe it is on par with nolans the dark knight and I think it will be remembered for a long time to come.

West Bromwich Albion mid season review 2014 - 2015

Next up for a review is west brom.

How their recruitment went - a mixed bag, a great signing is the free transfer of joleon lescott who has been a great signing for them. They did make 11 signings and the majority have been disappointing. Giorgos samaras, Silvestre varela and brown ideye have encapsulated the disappointment. Andre wisdom, Craig Gardner and Sebastian pocognoli have impressed in their new roles.

How performances have gone - they have been poor to be honest consistent defeats cost Alan Irvine his job and has really put them in a relegation battle with allot of other teams.

How the manager has done - well Alan Irvine did a poor job so he lost his job and Tony pulis has now been brought in and the results have improved and I expect them to improve.

Star player - saido berahino, the young lad has started scoring goals on a consistent basis and has really dragged Albion through some tough spots and he earned an England call up.

What they need to improve - they need to become more disciplined and also a bit more clinical in front of goal a few new players will come in to help as well. With Tony pulis in charge I expect all of these things to happen.

Final positioning - 15th

Nightcrawler review (2014)

I had heard allot of great things about this film and I have now been able too see it and I agree that it is fantastic.

The premise sees a man without a job or purpose until he becomes a crime camera man for tv and he becomes so good at it that he eventually breaks the law to get the best shot possible.

Now I had heard just how good Jake Gyllenhaal is in this film and that he basically disappears into this psychopath and he does that perfectly. This is easily his best ever performance as he is both the protagonist and the antagonist of the film and I swear if he is not nominated for an Oscar I will not understand the academy's thinking.

The supporting cast is good for the most part, renne Russo plays the tv executive that Gyllenhaal is working with and she is great in this film and their chemistry really works. Bill Paxton is in the film as a bad guy and even though he isn't in the film that much he is great in his baddy role like he always is. The only problem is with the guy who is Gyllenhaals employee is just an actor that I am not a big fan of and it doesn't change in this film.

The story of the film is fantastic and Gyllenhaals story is really good as he evolves throughout the film and his character is maybe the most interesting all year. This film also looks at the controversy of the news in this film and that is a big part of the film that is really interesting.

The script is excellent with everything that Gyllenhaal says being golden and it makes the script feels alive and fluid as the film progressed. Probably one of the best scripts of the year.

The style is also great the streets of California look beautiful and the night setting really works for this film and it is an awesome background for the film.

Overall this is a fantastic film and one of the best in 2014 also with a lead performances of the year so you should definitely see it.

Tottenham Hotspur mid season review 2014 - 2015

Next up for a review is Tottenham

How their recruitment went - not overly impressive, they signed Michel vorm who has barely played so has been a bit of a waste of money. They signed centre back Federico fazio from sevilla but I don't believe he has improved spurs team that much. Both Benjamin stambouli and Ben Davies were brought in and haven't added that much ton the team at all. Plus they didn't sign a striker that they truly needed.

How performances have gone - a bit of a mixed bag, they have had impressive performances especially against Chelsea but they have had some poor performances against teams like Liverpool which they need to start improving.

How the manager has done - Mauricio pochettino came in the summer and it has taken a little while to get his philosophy across but it seems now he is starting to get his beliefs across.

Star player - Harry Kane, the striker has shone this season and has come on leaps and bounds this season and his numerous amounts of goals have really dragged spurs through some difficult moments.

What they can improve - they need to become more solid in defence and also more clinical in front of goal because Kane will hit a dry spell eventually. They need to buy a centre forward to help him with the goal scoring.

Final positioning - 5th

Cristiano Ronaldo wins 2014 ballon d'or and the team of the year announced.

As expected Cristiano Ronaldo has won the ballon d'or beating Lionel messi and Manuel neuer to the best player in the world.

Now I don't believe anybody can complain about Ronaldo winning the award as he has scored the most goals on a consistent basis in world football. His team won the copa del Rey and the UEFA champions league with Ronaldo being the player that carried his team with goals and more assists then usual.

Team of the year
Manuel neuer - the German goalkeeper was the obvious choice for the best goalkeeper in the world, he has been so consistent and been great. He won the German cup, the bundesliga and the world cup.

Sergio Ramos - the real Madrid defender has had a good season as real improved their defensive performances all the way to copa del rey and champions league victories.

David luiz - I do not understand how luiz is in this team. For the first half of the season he didn't play allot for Chelsea. Then he had a terrible world cup including the 7 - 1 defeat to Germany. Then he signed for psg and he hasn't impressed there enough to earn a way into the team. I felt like Vincent kompany deserved this spot.

Thiago Silva - the other psg centre back has had a much better season and does deserve to be in the team. He won the ligue 1 with psg and has been superb for the club l season although he didn't have the best world cup.

Phillip lahm - the best full back in the world proved it this season with so many consistent performances and this was proven by captaining bayern to a league and cup double and also Germany to a world cup victory.

Angel di Maria - I feel like di Maria is in the team for his excellent form for real Madrid last season in the copa del Rey win and man of the match performance in the champions league final victory. He also had a good world cup for Argentina in the summer, but his start at man utd has been a little stop start.

Toni kroos - the German central midfielder has had the best year of his career no doubt. He won the German cup and bundesliga with Bayern and then won the world cup with Germany. Now he is at real Madrid and you can see his quality shining through.

Andres iniesta - the Spanish midfielder has not been at his best for Barcelona or Spain so I don't think he should have been in the team. I believe that yaya toure should have been in the team instead.

Arjen robben - robben has had a really good season winning the bundesliga and German cup and then impressing for the Netherlands at the world cup. However, I do believe that his spot should have gone to Luis Suarez for his form for Liverpool.

Lionel messi - even though it hasn't been the best season for messi he still has scored a crazy amount of goals for Barcelona and broke the la liga goal scoring record this year. He also had a really good world cup scoring crucial goals for Argentina on their way to the final.

Cristiano Ronaldo - I have already explained the success of the real Madrid forward this season and he deserves to be the star player in the team.

Avengers Age Of Ultron trailer 2 review

The second trailer for the Avengers has come out and I feel a bit mixed about this trailer as I got a bit of what I wanted but a bit that I didn't.

This trailer starts off giving us Tony Starks reasoning to create ultron and this shows a bit more of hydra which I wanted and it seems that hydra are doing tests to possibly create new versions of Scarlett witch and quicksilver. We also get a new look at the new captain America suit and I love it, I think it is the best looking yet. We get to see ultron in action briefly and it looks like he is going to have a ridiculous amount of power behind him. We also got to see Andy serkis again as what we expect is the villain klaw which means I expect him to be a more important members of the film then expected. This trailer shows that Scarlett witch and quicksilver will be villains to start with as the trailer shows Scarlett witch attacking iron man I just hope they don't get the Hawkeye treatment from the first film. Also we get a longer shot of the hulkbuster fight and now we know that it is Tony stark in the armour fighting hulk so we now have to theorize why hulk has lost control again.

There were a few things I didn't get in this trailer, I wanted to see at least a quick glimpse of the vision but we didn't get it in this trailer. Also I would have liked to have seen baron von strucker but we didn't get that. I do like the fact that this film is keeping things secretive. I remember before the amazing Spider-Man 2 after watching the trailers I knew most of the plot where as in this film I don't really know too much of what is going to happen.

Overall this trailer is not as good as the first trailer but it is a very good 2nd trailer and doesn't give too much away about the film.

arrow gets a season 4, flash gets a season 2, a potential atom show and supergirl in this universe

Today was a big day for fans of arrow and the flash tv shows and allot of future news has been announced.

First things first arrow has been renewed for season 4. Now I think this is the most obvious of the news because arrow has been constantly superb for the first 3 seasons and I think they have so much more they can do in future seasons with many more crossovers and comic book characters to introduce.

It has also been confirmed that flash and arrow will have yearly crossover episodes like this year's episodes.

Next is that the flash as expected has received a season two after its impressive start to life on tv. I really like the show and I feel like especially on this show that they can do more crazy things in season 2 which I am now super excited for.

An exciting rumour is that they are in early development of a ray Palmer atom show. Now I think this would be a great idea because we have already been introduced to the character and I think we will see his atom suit before the end of arrow season 3 and the character allows for more superhero adventures I just guess Palmer will have to leave starling city.

It has also been decided that a supergirl show is going to be made and it will exist in the arrow/flash universe. The only thing is that it will not be on the same channel in America as the other shows but it will be apart of these shows universe. I am guessing that the character will be more involved with the flash because arrow is more grounded then a god like character.

Now I live in the UK so gotham, the flash and arrow have not come back on the tv yet and the dates haven't been announced yet or whether we will get the atom and supergirl shows because at the moment we haven't got Constantine but when they are back I will start reviewing them.

The incredible Hulk review (2008)

It  is time to review the second of the marvel films and really the forgotten marvel film the incredible hulk.

The premise of the film sees Bruce banner hiding out in Brazil until the army come after him led by General Ross and emile blomsky to capture the hulk. This means he has to return to the US and reunite with his old love betty Ross to find a cure.

Now of course after hearing all the controversy about Edward Norton's role in this film and future marvel films it does make me a little upset because of how good he was in this film. He truly encapsulates the difference between banner and the hulk really well and it definitely made the hulk a relatable character which is a very hard thing to do.

The supporting cast is also excellent and a real surprise. William hurt plays general Ross and he does a great job as the tough army guy and you really feel like he truly believes that the hulk is his property. Tim Roth plays blomsky and does a real good job as an intense villain and his character is really interesting as the film progresses. Liv Tyler plays betty Ross and her chemistry with Norton is great and her performance is really good and this is a romance that really does work.

The story is okay, I really liked the fact that they showed banner become the hulk in the opening credits, I felt it was a really intelligent way to speed up the film. I also liked banners story and the way it started. However, I thought the overall story was a little weak and peoples reasoning was a little poor.

The script was really good with the dialogue a good mix between Whitty and drama and it made characters seem more interesting then maybe in other comic book films.

The style of the film is great and I thought the look of the hulk was great and the cgi really worked. Also the abomination was great and there fight at the end was filmed really well and the action was really smooth.

Overall I love this film and I feel like it is a great addition to the marvel films that really should be seen.

Swansea mid season review 2014 - 2015

Next up for a mid season review is Swansea city

How their recruitment went - it went decent, they signed lukasz fabianski on a free and he has impressed in goal replacing Michel vorm and showing his true potential. Federico Fernandez was brought in and has done a decent job in central defence as Swansea have been good defensively. World cup star Jefferson montero has been brought in and has impressed with his pace really affecting full backs. Young Tom Carroll was brought in on loan and has done a decent job in the limited game time he has had. Bafetimbi gomis was brought in on a free and he has largely been a sub but has done okay in his performances. But the best signing was the return of gylfi sigurdsson who has contributed so many assists and goals and has really stood up and showed his quality.

How the performances have gone - it's been impressive some people assumed that this would be the year that Swansea got relegated but they have proven that that will not be the case. From the very first day they beat Manchester utd and that put down a landmark for the season.

How the manager has done - there was allot of skeptics when Garry monk was given the full time job as manager but he has done fantastically and really hit the ground running. For such a young manager he has shown experience in his team to get results.

Star player - wilfired bony, the centre forward had been superb this season and he has scored allot of goals for Swansea I'm not year of 2014. Unfortunately for Swansea it seems that he is going to be leaving the club and joining Manchester city in a 30 million pound deal.

How to improve - they need to replace bony with a new striker that will guarantee them goals. They also just need to be a little more solid in midfield and not let bigger teams overpower them.

Final positioning - 12th

Homefront review (2013)

I'm a fan of Jason Statham so when this film came up on my Netflix cue I decided to watch it and I must say I am happy I did as this is one of the better Statham action films.

The premise of this film sees a dea agent have a failed drug bust so he decides after his wife's death to move to a small town with his daughter. When he gets there due to some situations he gets mixed up with a meth dealer who changes his complexion.

Now it is true that Jason Statham is the same character in every film he does but I must say he did it really well in this film. He was a tough guy when he needed to be and a funny guy sometimes as well, I think Statham knows how to do these films really well and he should be commended for knowing what he is good at.

The supporting cast is really good too, James Franco plays the meth dealer who gives Statham trouble and he plays the role perfectly. He really added something to the film and I thought his character was good and funny when necessary and it also shows just how impressive an actor James Franco is. The girl who plays stahams daughter was really good too and their chemistry is really good and really makes you care about the situations the two are put in later on in the film. Kate Bosworth and winona Ryder play two cracked out girls who are totally crazy in this film. I thought they both did a decent job in the film and showed they can both really act.

Now the story is where this film starts to fail. They wanted to make the plot a bit more convoluted then it needed to be and by the end of the film you wonder why these bad guys are all going after Statham as their not really relevant. Also there is a small hint of a romance at the beginning of the film but it gets completely dropped and we never hear about it again for some really weird reason.

The script was okay with some of the dialogue being witty and funny but also serious at times. However, I think this film may have taken itself a little too serious at times with the dialogue and should have had a little bit more fun.

The style is also a mixed bag, in these types of films you come for the action and this film's action is not the best. Now I will give credit all the sound effects feel real and provide a good enjoyment, however the director thought it would be a good idea to use allot of shaky cam in the film to take away from the action scenes.

This film is above average and if you are a Statham fan I would advise you give this film a shot you may like it.

Avengers Age Of Ultron trailer review

I know that the next Avengers trailer is coming soon but I felt I had to talk about the first Avengers age of ultron trailer because it is utterly fantastic.

Now the premise of Avengers age of ultron sees Tony stark accidentally create an unstoppable ai that becomes ultron and the Avengers must stop his path of destruction.

Now the first Avengers film is one of the greatest comic book films ever and this film is one of my most anticipated films of 2015 and this trailer really backs it up. First of all your hear a monologue from James spader who is playing ultron and boy is this casting fantastic and his voice is perfect for the evil ultron and I feel he is going to have one of the most memorable comic book film performances of all time. This trailer does do a really good job at making you feel for Tony stark and feel sorry for the best character in this universe. I truly feel that this part of the story will feed right into captain America civil war and I cannot wait for it.

Something I look for in a first trailer is the tone of the film and this tone is spot on. From the start you see that this is going to be a darker film and see our group of loveable heroes in dark times as ultron seems to be destroying everything. From the tone of the trailer and the reputation of director joss wheddon I do think somebody is going to die in this film. I predict that war machine is going to be killed by ultron Because it will really work for captain America civil war. The theme song of this film is the Pinocchio song I have no strings on me but it is turned to a dark version and it really works with spaders voice and links to the idea of ai. An aspect of the trailer I did like was the fact that it looks like ultrons look and tech will evolve throughout the film and it could be really interesting as he improves. We see the huokbuster, Andy serkis role in the film and an example of quicksilver and Scarlett witch's powers.

However, I do wish we had been given a tiny bit of info on hydras involvement and their relationship with the twins. And I would have liked a look at the vision. But other then that I love this trailer and it has done a great job of making me excited for this film.

Sunderland mid season review 2014 - 2015

Next up for a review is Sunderland

How their recruitment went - not a very interesting summer for Sunderland which will probably be remembered for their failure to sign Liverpool striker Fabio borini. They signed costel pantillimon in goal and he is impressed and made himself the number one choice. Patrick van annholt joined from Chelsea and has done okay at left back. Santiago vergini stayed at the club after his loan spell and has done decent. Jordi Gomez signed from Wigan and has done alright in Sunderland midfield.

How they have performed - uninspired to say the least, Sunderland are the draw specialists with more draws then anybody else and they have struggled to pick up wins even though they did win the Tyne wear Derbyshire against Newcastle.

How the manager has done - similarly to Paul Lambert at Aston villa I see Gus poyet as doing the best job possible with the players he has. His team are set up well defensively and he needs his strikers to start firing and they will get the results they need.

Star player - Adam Johnson, the winger does have his spells of hot and cold but recently he has been mostly hot and is sunderlands top scorer this season and has been their most creative player this season and they will need him to keep up his form for them to have a good season.

What they need to improve - they need to score More goals which is clear, the striker need to start being more clinical but they also need more support from the midfield and more creative play from the midfield. I believe they need to delve into the transfer market in January.

Batman v Superman being split into two films?

There have been many reports over night that the Batman v superman film that is meant to be coming out in 2016 May actually be split into two films with the first part coming out this year.

Now I loved man of steel and thought it was a fantastic retelling of the superman story. Then when I heard that Batman was going to be in the sequel I was so looking forward to it but there has been allot of problems with the film and if this is true this would possibly be the biggest problem of them all.

Apparently the first part would be called enter the knight and it would be out in October 2015 and then the dawn of justice in 2016 and the reason for this would be us to connect with the new Ben Affleck Batman. Now us as an audience know who the character of Batman is and we know the backstory which doesn't change because of the actor. Plus I want some of the Batman characters backstory to be saved for the future justice league and Batman films. Also this film is called Batman v superman so should truly focus on those two characters and not much else save the development of characters like wonder woman, aquaman and lex Luther for future films. You look at the avengers and that film is only 2 hours 20 mins and that film concentrates on 6 characters and yes they did all have films before but so have superman and Batman.

I just get the feeling that if this rumour is true then I feel it is just an excuse to shoehorn as many justice league characters as possible thus taking away the mystique of Batman v superman and that epic clash. For the record I don't believe this rumour is true and I think we will get one film in 2016 and it will be the original dawn of justice part of the film.

Overall even though I am quite skeptical about some of the casting of the film and I think it has had allot of problems. Still I am really looking forward to this film and I hope that this film is really really good.

For those that know me they know I love the tv show arrow and the dark knight films. So I thought I'd put this arrow vs Batman trailer on here that was fan made and it makes me wanna watch that possibly even more then Batman vs superman.

chappie trailer 2 review

I have literally very recently done my review for the first chappie trailer and I now see there is a second trailer. I wasn't even going to mention this trailer because I assumed it would be exactly the same but there is a big difference and it shows more about the overall story.

The first trailer really focused on chappie and the humanization of the robot and this trailer still has that but this trailer showcases Hugh jackman and Sigourney weaver's characters and where they lie. Hugh jackman looks like he is going to be awesome in this film and he looks like he is going to encapsulate the true villain that he has to be and his relationship with weaver looks like it is going to be an important one for the film.

This film took a little bit of a different direction with chappie in this film and that there will be action to the character and the great action that we have seen in Elysium and district 9. I am really looking forward to chappie now and I think this film could be the best of the three and can provide a great humanizing story.

stoke city mid season review 2014 - 2015

Next is my preview for stoke city

How their recruitment went - I think it went okay but not the splashing of cash people expected. Bojan has been a really good signing for them and has improved the overall quality of their play. They got oussama assaidi back on loan but he has not played enough to impress. Mame biram douf has been okay and has impressed at times this season. Also Phil bardsley has been a good free transfer acquisition like Steve sidwell.

How they have performed - hit and miss, they seem to have improved there away form this season but it has come at the cost of a bit of home form this season which is strange because usually stoke are reliant to get a result at home.

How the manager has done - Mark Hughes has done a good job changing the philosophy of the stoke team a bit but not at the expense of results. Stoke had their best ever season last and I think they will be okay this season.

Star player - bojan, the new signing from Barcelona has fitted in quicker then anybody could have really imagined. He has a6 few goals and his all round quality really ups stokes game.

What they need to improve - they need to score a few more goals,u defensively they are sound but they need to be a bit more clinical. A few signings in January couldn't hurt their chances of getting that.

Man On Fire Review (2004)

I am a big fan of Denzel Washington as an actor and this film is there addition to his great collection. I thought this film would be like commando or taken but to my surprise it takes a slightly different route.

The premise sees Washington's character hired to protect a family in particular a young girl. When she is kidnapped he goes on a mission of vengeance to get her back and take out everybody responsible for her kidnapping.

Now Denzel is a fantastic actor and he truly sells the performance, he feels like a relatable character that can also be an awesome action star and he displays this in full force in this film and his emotion filled performance carries the film.

The supporting cast is great as well with this being probably Dakota fannings best performance and her chemistry with Denzel is great and is the true emotional centre of the film. The woman who plays the mum of fannings character does a really good job in the role. Christopher walken isn't in the film a huge deal but he has a great performance when he is. The father of fanning does a good job and he is a layered character.

The story is impressive because as I said I thought this would be a simple action film but no this film is really more layered then that. This film is about a man finding life again and his journey with this girl showing him life again and you buy their relationship and provides the foundation of the film. The end of this film is great as well so much so that I started tearing up a little.

The script is great as well with a combination of humour and also allot of hard hitting dramatic and tough dialogue that buys just how dramatic a scenario that this film sets itself in.

The style is a bit of a mixed bag with some of the style working for this film and the Mexican lifestyle. However, I believe that some of the stylistic decisions took away from the grit of the film and made it quite hard to see some of the action.

Overall this is a fantastic film that is more then just an action film and if you are a Denzel Washington fan then you must see this film.
