Next up for a review is last year's champions Manchester city.
How their recruitment went - pretty poor to be honest there wasn't any real improvement to the team at all. 32 million pound central defender eliqualim mangala has been poor since signing and is not showing anywhere near the quality that is required for his price tag. Fernando was brought in for central midfield and he has done okay but nothing special. Bacary sagna hasn't played enough to impress and same with willy caballero. The one who has impressed is the most controversial with Frank lampard joining on loan from New York and has been one of city's best players and scored some important goals for them.
How performances have gone -pretty impressive and the champions have caught up to Chelsea and really made a statement. Defeating Liverpool and man utd were big results and they have been consistent these last few weeks. They are in the champions league last 16 but have a tough time against Barcelona to deal with.
How the manager has done - he has got better as the season has gone on. Manuel pellegrini has done better with his team selection and his tactics and it seems like now his team have the capability of retaining there title.
Star player - Sergio aguero, the Argentinean international has been lethal this season and through certain periods has carried Manchester city. Even though he is currently injured he is the top scorer in the Barclays premier league and man city need him back as soon as possible.
What they need to improve - they need to start defending better and becoming harder to beat. Also they need to start not relying on aguero and his goals and others have to carry the load. I think the departure of alvaro negredo in the summer means a new striker needs to be a priority in the January window.
Final positioning - 2nd
