Maleficent review (2014)

This movie has now come onto sky movies so I thought I would watch it and I thought this film was above average and has some good things about it.

The story sees a retelling of the sleeping beauty story told from the perspective of the villain Maleficent. The film sees a young maleficent get her wings stolen from her so she loses control and curses the kings daughter to fall asleep forever on her 16th birthday.

Now Angelina jolie is a fantastic actress and director so now she is maleficent and I think there is nobody on the planet that could have done a better job as the character. She reminded me of the Loki as the facts that even though she is the villain her charisma makes you like her and feel for her character.

Sharleto copley is great as the king and his character felt like a guy that was losing his mind and he was deteriorating throughout the film and was pretty dark. The girl that played aroura didn't really get a chance to deliver a great performance but she wasn't very interesting. The three fairies got on my nerves and they just irritated me throughout.

The story about maleficent was great and it showed her in a different light, with Angelina jolie's performance and the story beats they gave her really worked. However, there was a few things that were shoehorned into the film and felt throwaway for the story. Also the ending was a bit too nice for my liking which could have been made better.

The script was alright, maleficent's dialogue was good but there was allot of childish dialogue and fails of humour that kind of took away from certain aspects of the film.

The style sometimes was darker then I expected and I really liked some of the dark moments of the film. However, sometimes the cgi looked ridiculous and not interesting at all.

Overall this film is okay and coverage average plus it is an easy watch.
