Agents of shield season 2 mid season review (2014)

I ended up enjoying the first season of marvels agents of shield but I thought their was improvement to be made and I think the first half of season 2 has been a big improvement and been everything it should be.

The story of this season sees the team try to find an ancient artifact before hydra does. While also the team tries to deal with coulsons carving problem and also skyes origin.

Clark Gregg plays Phil coulson and he continues in his great portrayal of the character. He continues the dry humour that his character has always had and also because of his situation he does a good job in his emotional role.

The rest of the original cast are back and Skye, fitz, Simmons and ward have really interesting stories this season and I feel like I care about them more then last season. The additions of Hunter, Mack and Bobbi have been great and have really added something to the team. I do feel like there are a few too many people in the team and that may and triplett haven't had the moments they really deserve. The villains have been great and I feel like they are more interesting then the villains from season 1.

The first half of the first seasons story lacked focus but I don't think this season has made the mistake and the simple treasure hunt story has worked. The rest of the supporting stories have also worked and been a great addition. However, in the mid season finale there is clearly something that we are meant to care about but it falls a little flat in its execution.

The script is much better then the first season and the mix of humour and drama really works in this season more with the new additions to the team.

The style is still great with the production levels at a high standard and the fight choreography has improved to the levels of other shows.

Overall this is a fantastic start to the second season and I think it can get even better.
